Tanya is a Vice President and Health Actuary affiliated with Segal’s Glendale office. She has nearly 30 years of experience as an actuary and consultant.
Prior to joining Segal, Tanya was the firm’s Actuarial Director at Sequoia, a benefits, compensation and HR consulting firm headquartered in California, where she developed financial tools, served as the designated actuary on client teams and worked with the sales team on broker-of-record wins. Before she joined Sequoia, Tanya was a Vice President at Aon, where she was the financial lead and strategist for both public and private sector mid to large employer groups across the west region. Tanya helped her clients implement cost-mitigation strategies resulting in substantial savings.
Previously, Tanya was a Principal at Mercer for 12 years, where she managed the Los Angeles actuarial team and work-flow committee, served as the West market financial leader of business cases for private healthcare exchanges and was the financial lead for a wide variety of clients in the West market. She also worked at Milliman and Deloitte. She partnered with a diverse portfolio of clients across the restaurant and entertainment, consumer goods and technology industries, higher education, financial services and the public sector. Additionally, Tanya held roles on the carrier side at Blue Shield of California and Wellpoint where she specialized in pricing, provider contracting and managing the Medicare products.
Tanya earned a BS in Actuarial Science from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. She is an active member of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (CCA). In addition to serving on the CCA’s board, Tanya is the Healthcare Sectional Lead of the Annual Program Committee, chair of the Diversity, Equality and Inclusion Committee and a member of the Healthcare Steering Committee. She has served as a speaker and/or moderator at the CCA annual meetings.
