Nura is a Senior Vice President and Consulting Actuary in Segal’s Phoenix office with more than a decade of experience and knowledge in the employee benefits industry.

Nura provides proactive consulting to assist clients across all markets and industries with a wide range of employee and retiree benefit plan needs, including strategic design, funding, vendor selection, cost management and compliance. She has specialized experience in pricing and plan design strategies for medical, dental and prescription drug programs as well as the development of complex projections with custom-designed interactive live-modeling capabilities to explore client-specific interests in real time.

In addition to her role as the lead consultant and actuary for clients, Nura manages the firm’s West Region Health practice with primary offices in Phoenix, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Denver.

Prior to joining Segal, Nura served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University. In addition to teaching classes for math majors, she conducted independent and collaborative research in functional analysis, operator algebras and dynamical systems.

Nura received a BAE in Secondary Education, an MA in Mathematics and a PhD in Mathematics from Arizona State University. She is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Nura has received the firm’s prestigious Quality Star Award.

Nura has spoken on theoretical mathematics at numerous national and international conferences and co-authored several articles appearing in peer-reviewed mathematical journals including the Journal of Operator Theory and the Houston Journal of Mathematics.

Nura has also presented on a variety of employee and retiree healthcare topics at regional benefits and HR forums, including meetings of both the Arizona and New Mexico Association of School Business Officials (AASBO and NMASBO).
