Dr. Patani is a Vice President and Consulting Actuary in Segal’s Phoenix office with almost 10 years of benefits consulting experience. She provides proactive consulting to assist clients with a variety of issues related to employee and retiree benefit plans, including strategic design, funding, plan management and compliance. Dr. Patani also has extensive experience in the development of complex projections with custom-designed interactive live-modeling capabilities. In addition to her role as the lead consultant and actuary for clients, Dr. Patani manages the firm’s Health Practice in the West Region.

Prior to joining Segal, Dr. Patani served as a Visiting Assistant Professor in the School of Mathematical & Statistical Sciences at Arizona State University. In addition to teaching classes for math majors, she conducted independent and collaborative research in functional analysis, operator algebras and dynamical systems.

Dr. Patani received a BAE in Secondary Education, an MA in Mathematics and a PhD in Mathematics from Arizona State University. She is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. Dr. Patani has received the firm’s prestigious Quality Star Award.

Dr. Patani has spoken on theoretical mathematics at numerous national and international conferences and co-authored several articles appearing in peer-reviewed mathematical journals including the Journal of Operator Theory and the Houston Journal of Mathematics.

Dr. Patani has also presented to various organizations including both the Arizona and New Mexico Association of School Business Officials (AASBO and NMASBO) on the Employer Mandate and associated IRS reporting obligations.
