Melanie is a Vice President, Consulting Actuary in the East Region, affiliated with Segal’s Austin office. She has more than 10 years of experience as a health actuary.
Prior to joining Segal, Melanie was Chief Health Actuary for Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), where she was responsible for the actuarial functions for plans covering approximately 750,000 lives. Melanie designed, implemented and maintained regional pricing methodology for about 1,000 employers. Additionally, she developed rates for active and retired plans. She also led a team of actuaries.
Previously, Melanie was an actuary at the University of Utah Health Plans. She began her actuarial career at Beneficial Financial Group, an insurance and financial services company based in Salt Lake City.
Melanie earned a BS in Mathematics from Brigham Young University (Provo, UT) and an MA in Applied Mathematics from Indiana University (Bloomington, IN). She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries.
