Senior Vice President

Margaret is a Senior Vice President and Health Consultant in Segal’s New York office, with over 30 years of experience in the administration of group healthcare. She also serves as the National Multiemployer Health Practice Leader.

Margaret develops creative solutions to meet the dynamic nature of today’s healthcare industry and the financial challenges facing her clients. Her expertise includes:

  • Understanding network options in each geographic location to ensure the best fit. Options include narrow networks, high performance network tied to quality care, patient centered medical homes and tiered plan alternatives.
  • Thorough review of utilization patterns of a Plan’s participants to better understand drivers of cost. This will drive plan options for consideration to help mitigate future increases in healthcare spend.
  • Disease and care management integration in the medical program with a focus on controlling high cost claimants and providing quality care
  • Integration of wellness techniques to help reduce the number of future high cost claimants

In addition, Margaret coordinates the competitive biddings for all New York/New Jersey area marketing efforts. In this role, she is well versed on network discounts, fee arrangements within the markets and network innovations.

Prior to joining Segal, Margaret worked at several large insurance carriers where she managed an underwriting team that was dedicated to medium to large size national accounts. National accounts were those that had participants in many locations.

Margaret received a BBA in Insurance from The College of Insurance and a MBA in Finance from Iona College. She also has a CLU (Chartered Life Underwriter) designation. She is a licensed agent and broker for life, accident and health insurance.

Margaret frequently leads presentations on group health topics in the New York area, including at Segal’s Annual Fund Administrators’ Seminar.
