Dan is a Senior Vice President in Segal’s New York office with over 26 years of experience. He has held leadership positions including Co-Head of the New York office, Chief Operating Officer, Member of the Board, and Member of the Board's Compensation and Audit Committees.

Dan has specialized expertise in qualified and non-qualified retirement plan design, deferred compensation funding strategies, defined benefit and defined contribution retirement design, broad based pay, short- and long-term incentive plans and executive compensation. He has extensive experience consulting on mergers and acquisitions and has served as a professional advisor to clients in several public transactions. Dan serves a diverse set of clients including large public and private multinational companies and nonprofits, and has served boards, management and leaders at professional services firms and companies in the automotive, sports and entertainment, and education industries.

Before joining Segal, Dan was a senior consultant for a major insurance company/global asset management organization where he provided technical consulting services for pension, defined contribution and deferred compensation arrangements, and maintained professional asset management licensing requirements. Prior to this, he worked as a registered investment advisor for a private investment firm specializing in fixed-income investments for pension plans.

Dan graduated from the State University of New York at Fredonia with a dual BS in Human Resource Management and Economics. He was selected to participate in several executive management programs at Harvard University and was invited to attend Harvard’s exclusive program for leaders in Professional Consultancies. In 2008, Dan was appointed to the first Board of Directors for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) Venture Philanthropy, a nonprofit group focused on discovering treatments for neuromuscular diseases and working towards the commercialization of those treatments. He has also been a member of the Board of Directors for MDA since 2007 and serves on the Finance and Investment Committees.

Dan lectures on benefits compliance issues, non-qualified plan design, deferred compensation and funding options for several leading benefits and human resource management forums. He is frequently quoted in business publications and has taught classes for the American Management Association and other public associations as part of their credential programs.
