Senior Vice President and Actuary

Aldwin is a Senior Vice President and Actuary in Segal’s New York office with over 20 years of retirement consulting experience. He serves as the Actuarial Manager for Segal’s New York Retirement Practice where he oversees a staff of over 35 retirement actuaries and pension analysts and has superviAldwinsory responsibility for all work performed in the retirement practice. He is responsible for quality control, staff training and development in all areas of the retirement practice and is actively involved in the development of policies pertaining to all actuarial work performed by the firm. In his role as the Actuarial Manager, he also has overall accountability for the delivery of actuarial valuations and retirement consulting services to multiemployer, public sector and corporate plans for the New York Region. 

Aldwin consults to several multiemployer and public sector plans. He specializes in pension and retiree health valuations, particularly with regards to funding, plan design, withdrawal liability, mergers, accounting standards, regulatory, collective bargaining and risk consulting issues. He has extensive experience in assisting pension and health clients develop funding policies to meet their short-term and long-term goals. He has also helped troubled multiemployer pension plans navigate the different options available to them, including exploring the feasibility of managed mass withdrawal or applying for benefit suspensions, partitions or facilitated mergers under the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act.

Aldwin is also a member of the Segal Board of Directors, as well as a.member of the New York Region Leadership Team, which focuses on identifying challenges and addressing them by developing strategic ideas that will help better serve our clients. He is also a member of several national office task forces, including Segal’s Hybrid Plans team where he co-develops risk education resources and provides internal support to consulting teams on the design, operation and implementation of hybrid and variable-type plans.

Aldwin received a BS in Actuarial Science with Honors from New York University. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Aldwin serves as a member of the Multiemployer Plans Committee of the American Academy of Actuaries and is an advisor to the National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans. Throughout his career, he has also served in numerous committees and working groups for the American Academy of Actuaries and the Society of Actuaries.
