Kim is a Senior Vice President and Health Consultant in Segal’s Troy, MI office. She has over 25 years of experience in underwriting, actuarial, sales, client service and project management disciplines. Kim advises public sector and corporate clients in medical, dental, life and disability plan design for active employees and retirees. She also performs competitive bidding and advises clients on matters related to the Affordable Care Act and other compliance issues.

Kim uses her financial background to aggressively negotiate renewal rates and competitive bids. Her extensive knowledge of carrier operations make her a valuable asset to uncover and then negotiate unique financial and/or service arrangements with vendors.

Prior to joining Segal, Kim was a Principal at Moroni Fantin, an employee benefits consulting firm that worked with Michigan and national, mid-market, self-insured health plans. Her responsibilities included the day-to-day project management and generating new business sales. Kim provided financial analysis which included renewal rate development, budget setting, monthly reporting and large claims analysis. The Segal Group acquired a portion of Moroni Fantin’s business in January 2014 (Moroni Fantin ceased operations).

Prior to Moroni Fantin, Kim was with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) where she worked with national corporations and was a critical part of the sales team that generated over $900 million in new revenue and 400,000 new members. Kim was also a rating specialist in the actuarial and underwriting area and developed financial strategies in support of all national new business proposals, including illustrative rate calculations, cost estimate simulations and administrative fee development.

Kim holds a BA in Mathematics from Wayne State University and an MBA in Health Care Management from the University of Phoenix. She has also earned the Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS), Group Benefits Associate (GBA) and Compensation Management Specialist (CMS) designations through the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans.

Kim has been a speaker at local and national public employer conferences on various topics:
