Rob is a Senior Vice President and West Region Retirement Practice Leader, affiliated with the San Francisco office. He leads a team of consultants and analysts focused on quality, process and delivery of retirement actuarial consulting projects for clients in the corporate, multiemployer and public sector markets.

Rob has more than 28 years of experience as a consulting actuary to sponsors of defined benefit and defined contribution retirement plans, developing creative solutions that appropriately balance risk for stakeholders.

Prior to joining Segal, Rob was a Vice President and Consulting Actuary for The Standard, an insurance and financial company, where he led the retirement business. In this role, he developed and implemented strategies for growth and profitability of the business across the country and internationally. He also consulted to sponsors of both domestic and international retirement plans, where he led and implemented business strategy, managed the defined benefits business, provided actuarial consulting to single-employer plans and led the development of data-driven, decision-making tools. Previously, Rob was a Consulting Actuary with Venuti & Associates, Rael & Letson, Mercer and Milliman.

Robert earned a BS in Economics from Portland State University (Portland, OR). He is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

Rob has spoken on sustainable plan design and risk management with a focus on hybrid plan designs to industry groups and at conferences.
