Lisa is a Vice President and Senior Consultant, Compliance-Health, in Segal’s Chicago office. She has more than 15 years of experience working with public sector, corporate and multiemployer clients on a wide range of health and welfare compliance matters. Lisa helps clients navigate and ensure compliance with federal and state laws, ranging from day-to-day compliance issues to complex plan design matters for both ERISA and non-ERISA clients.
Past and current client work:
Before joining Segal, Lisa served as Assistant Vice President, Compliance Counsel at Gallagher Benefits Services, Inc., a subsidiary of Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., where she provided regular compliance support to clients in the health and welfare arena, including, but not limited to, the Internal Revenue Code, ERISA, HIPAA, FMLA, ADA/GINA, COBRA and state laws. She worked with ERISA and non-ERISA clients to help them remain in compliance with the federal and state laws that impact the operation and design of sophisticated health and welfare plan arrangements.
Prior to entering the consulting arena, Lisa served as in-house counsel for one of the nation’s largest multiemployer Taft-Hartley health and welfare and pension funds. In that role, she regularly helped internal staff understand and remain compliant with the laws that impact the proper administration of a complex Taft-Hartley union plan. She also worked in private practice representing multiemployer fund clients in the federal courts with an emphasis on ERISA litigation matters.
Lisa received a JD and LLM in Employee Benefits from the John Marshall Law School and a BA International Business from Dominican University. She received Segal’s One Company Award for 2022, recognizing colleagues who exemplify the attitudes and behaviors of teamwork and collaboration that are inherent in our One Company philosophy.
Lisa presents on a variety of legal topics both in person and via webinars to a wide range of clients on many topics related to the proper design and administration of employer benefits plans.
