Cristina is a Senior Vice President and Benefit Audit Solutions (BAS) Practice Leader in Segal’s Chicago office with over 20 years of experience in the retail pharmacy, pharmacy benefit management (PBM) and health benefits consulting industries. In addition to leading the BAS practice, Ms. De Leon is a member of Segal’s National Rx Consulting Group.
Prior to joining Segal, Cristina was a Pharmacy Cristinadit Specialist in the Pharmacy Benefit Operations department of a provider-owned PBM. She served the PBM’s largest client, a national Managed Medicaid/Medicare provider, as well as other commercial clients in Puerto Rico. Her role consisted of analyzing network pharmacies’ claims, developing algorithms, initiating financial charge-backs, recommending terminations and developing a concentrated audit program.
Ms. De Leon worked with internal departments, vendors, clients, pharmacy providers, prescribers, CMS MEDICs and law enforcement to maintain an optimal pharmacy network. She has also worked for a leading, national retail pharmacy chain in the Prescription Benefits Administration department in the areas of Managed Healthcare Contracting and Pharmacy Audit Compliance.
Cristina attended the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at DePaul University. She holds an Illinois Producer License for Life and Health. She is a nationally certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) and holds an active Illinois Pharmacy Technician license. She is a member of the Chicago Pharmacists Association, North Suburban Pharmacists of Chicagoland Association and the Illinois Pharmacists Association.
