Mitch is a Senior Vice President and West Region Leader, responsible for managing operations for Segal's offices in Albuquerque, Denver, Juneau, Los Angeles, Phoenix and San Francisco. For the last five years, he was Segal’s Midwest Region Leader. He is focused on organizational development and people strategies.
Mitch has nearly 30 years of consulting experience at Segal, assisting multiemployer clients within the food industry and the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) and providing support for UFCW plan mergers and bargaining. He also works with public sector clients. He has specialized in benefits strategy and design and healthcare cost management programs. Mitch has been successful in reducing client healthcare costs by following a process of goal setting, data evaluation, plan design modeling, vendor selection and vendor management. He has also helped many clients develop effective contribution options.
Prior to joining Segal, Mitch was the Manager of Underwriting for a Chicago-area HMO. He also served for three years as an Employee Benefits Underwriter with a consulting firm specializing in association trusts and for four years as an Underwriter with a national insurance company. Mitch is a past member of URAC’s Consumer-Directed Advisory Committee. This committee assists URAC with the development of accreditation standards for Consumer-Directed Health Plans.
Mitch received a BS degree from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) and an MBA from DePaul University.
Mitch has been quoted several times as an expert on the topic of cost management strategies and prescription drug programs. He has also been a guest presenter on health benefit design and prescription drug programs at many local, regional and national conferences.
