David is Chair of The Segal Group and The Segal Group’s immediate past President and CEO. Segal's professionals are leaders in a wide range of consulting: actuarial, health benefits, human resources, investment, fiduciary insurance, communications and technology. They are all bound together by the common mission of providing trusted advice that improves lives.

David is a recognized leader in the employee benefits industry and is proud to serve as the lead client relationship manager for a range of clients, consulting on their health and welfare plans, defined benefit pension plans and defined contribution pension plans. Throughout his career, he has had many roles, but only one job: contributing to the success of the firm’s clients.

During his almost 40 years with Segal, David has held a number of national and regional leadership roles. He is the immediate past President and CEO, having served in that capacity from October 2016 through December 2025. Prior to joining Segal, David worked for a major insurance company focusing on all areas of employee benefits.

David graduated magna cum laude from the University of Michigan with a BA in Philosophy. As a committed lifelong learner, he has done numerous continuing education programs, including courses of study at Harvard and the Center for Creative Leadership.

David is a frequent speaker at benefits conferences and other industry forums. He is a published author on both healthcare and retirement benefit topics. Presentations and publications include:
