Mr. Lerner is the firm’s Administration and Technology Consulting (ATC) Practice Leader. Mr. Lerner’s expertise includes business process analysis and redesign, organizational and operational redesign, system functionality analysis, systems implementation management and project budget management. Mr. Lerner is a key member of Segal’s National HIPAA Compliance Team and plays a vital role in identifying, reviewing and assessing compliance approaches as well as potential compliance solutions offered by transaction software companies and clearinghouses. He is the Founder and an Advisory Council Member of the Multiemployer IT Summit, a group dedicated to bringing multiemployer technology experts together to share ideas and industry best practices.
Mr. Lerner has presented at various industry conferences, including the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans (IFEBP) Communication and Technology Conference and the Public Retirement Information Systems Management (PRISM) Conference. His work has been published in Benefits and Compensation Digest, on the IFEBP website and in articles for Segal’s Newsletter.
Mr. Crook works with clients to provide technology vendor assessments and acquisitions, fund office operational reviews, and third party administrator (TPA) searches and reviews, among other services.
Ms. de San Roman has extensive experience in benefits administration for multiemployer and public sector clients. As an expert in all technology aspects of benefits administration, Ms. de San Roman is responsible for HIPAA Security and HITECH assessments, technology acquisitions, network vendor searches, website development and management of system implementations. Ms. de San Roman is a recurring speaker at the company’s Annual Fund Administrator Seminar and the Annual ATC IT Summit, presenting topics such as HIPAA Security and HITECH.
Ms. DeVine assesses and improves the efficiency of benefits operations through organizational and transactional redesign. Ms. Devine specializes in organizational and operational reviews, third party administration analysis and selection, and feasibility studies for defined benefit and defined contribution plans.
Ms. Drollinger is a Senior Consultant with extensive experience within the Taft-Hartley and benefit industries. Ms. Drollinger has specialized expertise in all facets of benefit administration, including working with defined benefit and defined contribution plans, software product development, member and employer portals, business intelligence, and analytics. She works with clients on operational and organizational reviews, Third Party Administrator (TPA) searches, technology assessments and acquisitions, and HIPAA Security and HITECH assessments.
Ms. Drollinger holds a Dale Carnegie Leadership Training for Managers certificate as well as a Pragmatic Marketing Certification in Foundations & Market. She is also a Certified Scrum Professional.
Ms. Hoel has extensive claims auditing and administration experience. She manages projects for a variety of services, including health plan claim audits, pre or post-implementation reviews and the verification of system plan building. Ms. Hoel also produces audit reports and new business proposals. Ms. Hoel has specialized expertise in staff training, benefit design and the performance of internal/external audits. She earned the designations of Health Insurance Associate (HIA) and HIPAA Professional (HIPAAP) after completing the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Insurance Education Program.
Ms. Lagua has extensive experience with client service management, claims and customer service management, processing of claims, internal claim audits, coordination of third-party subrogation recoveries, implementation of client changes (plan design changes), review and updates to client’s SBC and SPD, quality review of client’s financial statements and expenses, customization of claims processing platform change, refund and recoupment recoveries, and preparation of client’s state, federal, quarterly, and annual tax filing. Ms. Lagua conducts analysis of claims payor’s administrative procedures and review of detailed financial and claims data for various health, dental, vision, disability, life and alternate provider benefit programs.
Mr. Rivera has extensive technology and operations experience, with specialized expertise in the Taft-Hartley multiemployer industry. He also has extensive experience in software development, systems operations, business intelligences and analytics, and marketing and technology infrastructure, including third party administrators servicing multiemployer funds and public sector entities.
Mr. Rivera provides administration and technology services to clients, including multiemployer benefit systems, member Web portals, employer Web portals, Enterprise Content Management Systems (ECM), Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP), Storage Area Networks (SAN), telecommunication systems, version control systems, server virtualization, desktop virtualization, disaster recovery, business continuity, HIPAA security, and corporate websites.
Ms. Sheldon has extensive experience in claims administration and auditing. In addition to providing claims auditing services, Ms. Sheldon also reviews detailed financial and claims data for various health, dental, vision, disability, life and alternate provider benefit programs. She has received the designation of Health Insurance Associate (HIA) for completion of the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Insurance Education Program and a certificate of completion from the Insurance Educational Association’s (IEA) Workers’ Compensation program.
Mr. Stoyanovich is a Vice President and Senior Consultant in Segal’s Administration & Technology Consulting practice. He has many years of experience in the technology and benefits industries, with extensive expertise in employee benefits plan administration and technology. Mr. Stoyanovich speaks at a variety of industry events and conferences, including the International Foundation of Employee Benefits Plans annual conferences and the Foundation’s Trustees and Administrators Institutes. He has authored several articles that have been published in Benefits & Compensation Digest. Prior to joining Segal, Mr. Stoyanovich served as a member of the Steering Committee for Segal’s annual Multiemployer IT Summit.
Mr. Tanz has extensive experience in the Taft-Hartley multiemployer industry and is an expert in multiple disciplines including Executive Leadership, Management, Software Engineering, Project Management, Database Administration, Networking and System Administration. Mr. Tanz works with clients on a vast variety of emerging technology solutions and programs including multiemployer benefit systems, member Web portals, employer Web portals, Enterprise Content Management Systems (ECM), Enterprise Resource Planning Systems (ERP), Storage Area Networks (SAN), telecommunication systems, version control systems, server virtualization, desktop virtualization, disaster recovery, business continuity, HIPAA security and corporate websites.
He is an Adjunct Professor at Villanova University teaching Database Management Systems in their school of Business and an Adjunct Professor at Strayer University teaching various courses in their school of Information Systems and Technology. Mr. Tanz has also been involved with Segal’s Multiemployer IT Summit (MIS) since its inception in 2007. He is a regular presenter at this event and has delivered presentations on ECM, Server Virtualization, Telecommunications, Open Source Software and Version Control. He also serves on the group’s steering committee.
Ms. Turner has extensive experience in claims administration and the medical field. She provides claims administration services associated with the validation of processing accuracy and assessment of operational procedures for a variety of health plans (i.e., medical, disability, dependent eligibility) administered by carriers and third-party payers.
Ms. Watson has extensive claims administration and audit experience. She oversees all aspects of Segal’s claims auditing services, and provides assistance with operational/organizational reviews, technology application assessments and TPA searches. Ms. Watson has received the designation of Health Insurance Associate (HIA) and Managed Healthcare Professional (MHP) for completion of the America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) Insurance Education Programs. She also holds a certificate of completion from the Insurance Educational Association (IEA) in Workers’ Compensation Claims Administration and has completed training as a Forensic Medical Fraud Investigator.
Ms. Yoo has extensive experience in benefits administration. As an expert in all operational and organizational aspects of benefits administration. Ms. Yoo provides Third Party Administrator (TPA) searches, HIPAA compliance assessments, organizational/operational reviews, and the evaluation and redesign of administrative processes and health benefit delivery systems, including medical management and claims processing. She has specialized expertise reviewing the various ways in which technology can be leveraged to support these processes.
Ms. Zak has experience working with clients on recruiting, third party administrator (TPA) searches and technology acquisition searches. She also manages vendor communications for these services. Ms. Zak is involved in recruiting, as well as organizational and operational reviews. Ms. Zak has worked on recruiting searches for positions including: Fund Administrator, IT Director, IT Manager, HR Director, Director of Pension Operations, Controller, Executive Assistant, Bookkeeper, Claims Auditor, Customer Service Representative and Executive Director.
