Public Hearing on MPRA Participant Vote Set for December 18, 2015

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will hold a hearing on December 18, 2015 on their proposed regulation relating to the participant vote under the suspension provisions of the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 (MPRA). Under MPRA, once a suspension has been approved by Treasury, participants and beneficiaries are given the opportunity to ratify or reject the suspension. IRS held hearings on the proposed suspension regulations on September 10, 2015. This hearing relates only to the administration of the ratification vote under the separate proposed regulation issued on September 2, 2015. Persons who submitted written comments on the proposed regulation by the November 2, 2015 comment deadline and wish to testify at the hearing must submit an outline of the topics they wish to address by November 30, 2015.
