On November 13, the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services (collectively, the Departments), which are responsible for implementing the Affordable Care Act, released in final form various rules related to the law that had previously been issued in proposed or interim final form or as answers to frequently asked questions. The final rules, which were published in the November 18 Federal Register, address grandfathered plans, preexisting condition exclusions, lifetime and annual limits, rescissions, dependent coverage, appeals and patient protections. While the final rules generally incorporate previous guidance, they do contain slight modifications to some requirements.
Segal Consulting will publish an Update providing information on modifications in the final rules that are not part of earlier guidance.
