Senior Vice President, Retirement Practice Leader

Mr. Lawrence is a Senior Vice President and the National Retirement Practice Leader in Segal’s New York office. He has over 30 years of experience in a wide range of employee benefit services, including benefit and de-risking strategies related to mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures involving both publicly traded and privately held entities. Mr. Lawrence has specialized expertise in the design and financing of qualified and non-qualified retirement plans. As head of the firm’s National Retirement Practice, Mr. Lawrence works with clients throughout the United States and serves as the Consultant and Principal Account Officer for many of Segal’s largest clients, including companies in the oil, chemical manufacturing and distribution industries. Additionally, he serves as Segal’s representative in our global partnership with over 5,000 professionals.

Mr. Lawrence joined the firm’s New York Actuarial Department in 1977. Previous positions held include Benefits Consultant, Vice President, Manager of the firm’s Corporate Consulting Practice for the New York region, Director of the firm’s Corporate Practice, member of the Executive Committee and member of the Board of Directors.

Mr. Lawrence received a BA in Mathematics from Queens College of the City University of New York. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries, a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary. Mr. Lawrence is a member of the Policy Board of the American Benefits Council, a former Chairperson of the Financial Executive International’s Committee on Benefits Finance and a former member of the Board of Directors for the Council on Employee Benefits.

Mr. Lawrence has written numerous articles about employee benefits. He currently serves on the Editorial Advisory Board of Financial Executive magazine. Recent published work includes:
