Segal considers the attainment of professional credentials to be an important element of a successful actuarial career. To encourage the passing of actuarial exams, the company provides study support and financial rewards as employees progress through the exam process.
Research and study leaves, common in educational institutions, are unusual among businesses. We offer this program because we believe that it will help us develop new insights, greater knowledge and better skills. Employees are eligible for an eight-week research and study leave after they have completed fifteen years of service with Segal and again after twenty-five years. They can use this time to learn more about our field and profession or to develop new business ideas. This could include projects such as organized study or conducting a study of benefits programs in another country.
Segal offers a range of in-house and external learning and development courses, with topics ranging from building client relationships to pharmacy benefit strategies.
To encourage staff members to continue their professional education and acquire new skills, the company offers a program of tuition assistance. Segal will reimburse a portion (generally 50 or 100%) of tuition costs for approved professional classes and approved college and graduate courses.
