Expanded Guidance and Information on Preventive Care Benefits
Abstract
A new issue of Health Care Reform Insights summarizing new guidance from the Departments of Health and Human Services, Labor, and Treasury on preventive care benefits that non-grandfathered group health plans must provide under Affordable Care Act is now available.
This issue of Health Care Reform Insights also discusses a request for information (RFI) regarding the use of value-based insurance design (VBID) in connection with preventive care benefits. (VBID is the agencies' term for plan designs that promote high-value, clinically effective, evidence-based preventive care, such as a program that reduces copayments for drugs that treat chronic medical conditions.) Plan sponsors that choose to comment on the RFI must do so by February 28, 2011.
Sponsors of non-grandfathered plans should comply with all of the steps listed in the "Implementing a Preventive Care Benefit" section at the end of this Health Care Reform Insights.
