Segal Announces Executive Promotions

NEW YORK (7/18/12) – Joseph A. LoCicero, President and CEO of The Segal Company, announced the recent promotion of eight executives.

To Senior Vice President:

Christopher Calvert. Mr. Calvert joined the firm’s New York office as a Health Consultant in 2001. He was promoted to Vice President in 2005 and became a Health Practice Leader role at the beginning of 2012. Mr. Calvert has more than 20 years of experience in the health care industry advising corporate and public sector clients in plan design for active employees and retirees. He graduated from Cornell University with a BS in Economics and received an MBA in Healthcare Administration from Baruch College/Mount Sinai Medical Center. Mr. Calvert is a licensed Agent and Broker for Life, Accident and Health Coverage in New York, New Jersey, Michigan and Virginia.

Daniel V. Ciner, MAAA, EA. Mr. Ciner joined the firm’s Chicago office’s actuarial department in 1988 and was named an Actuary in 2002 and a Vice President in 2004. He currently serves as Actuarial Manager for the Midwest Region. Mr. Ciner has more than 25 years of retirement consulting experience in the multiemployer market and is currently the Actuary for several major multiemployer pension plans. Dan graduated from Bradley University (Peoria, IL) with a BS in Mathematics. He is a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries and an Enrolled Actuary.

To Vice President:

George Bognar. Mr. Bognar joined the Washington, D. C. Office in 2007 as a pharmacy consulting resource for the firm’s Eastern Region. He has more than 20 years of health benefit experience. Prior to Segal, Mr. Bognar worked for a major PBM with managed prescription drug programs on plan benefit design and cost reduction strategies. At Segal, he focuses on the evaluation of PBM services, plan design strategies and health management. Mr. Bognar has a BS in Economics from Rutgers University and an MBA from Cornell University. He is also a Fellow of the Academy of Healthcare Management (FAHM), and a licensed Broker for Life, Accident and Health coverage in Virginia, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Delaware and the District of Columbia.

Ruth Donahue.  Ms. Donahue joined the Chicago office in 2001 where she consults with clients in the public sector market. She has more than 10 years of experience as a consultant and Human Resources practitioner, and over 30 years as a clinician and coach. Ms. Donahue has broad expertise in behavioral health, wellness and behavior change strategy. She received an MSW from Indiana University, and a BA from the University of Illinois. Ms. Donahue is a licensed Life, Accident and Health producer in the states of Illinois, Oklahoma, Missouri, Indiana and Wisconsin.

Paul E. Flasch. Mr. Flasch joined the Chicago office’s actuarial department in 1986. In 1995, he was named head of the pension applications group and in 2008, became a Benefits Consultant working with multiemployer clients. With more than 25 years of experience, Mr. Flasch consults with clients throughout the Midwest Region. He received a BS in Mathematics from Valparaiso University (Valparaiso, IN).

Laurie Hart. Ms. Hart joined the New York office as a Senior Research Librarian in 1998 and was promoted to Director, Information Services in 2010. With 15 years of experience, she manages research services and library administration for all the firm’s business units and employees nationally. Ms. Hart also provides training and instruction in database and traditional research. She received a BA in Political Science from the University of Dayton and a Master of Library Science from Columbia University.

Pamela J. Kowalski. Ms. Kowalski joined theChicago office’s Retirement Practice in 2004 and was promoted to Manager in 2008. She consults on best practices in benefits administration, and on plan interpretation and compliance related issues. Ms. Kowalski has more than 25 years of experience in benefit administration. She received a BA in Mathematics from Eastern Illinois University.

Nichole Markley Linhardt. Ms. Linhardt joined the Chicago office as a Compliance Specialist in 2001 and was promoted to Consultant in 2007. She consults with many clients in the Kansas City area and throughout the Midwest on developing strategic, customized solutions for managing health care costs. Ms. Linhardt received a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Western Illinois University. She holds Life & Health and Property & Casualty licenses from the State of Illinois and various other states. Ms. Linhardt also serves on the Board of Directors of the Frank Lloyd Wright Preservation Trust in Oak Park, Illinois.
